Summary/Abstract: After having already informed the German public opinion in Vormärz about some aspects of the situation in Transylvania and of the Transylvanian Romanians status, Allgemeine Zeitung published in 1848-1849, several articles and correspondences that comprised relations and news about them. Without embracing the Romanians' aspirations and forms of struggle, the correspondents reflected the emergence of the national movement and informed the public opinion about the liberal-democratic program of the Romanian revolution comprised in the Petition-Resolution from Blaj. Afterwards, through the intermediary of the paper, there was also expressed the outlook of the Romanian leading circles concerning the armed rising against the oppression for the protection of the national being and the right to self determination, the readers also learning about their huge sacrifices in order to fulfil this desideratum. Through the intermediary of the famous German daily newspaper, Europe learned about the existence of a “Romanian question” in Transylvania, demanding its solution in a democratic spirit.
