Summary/Abstract: The Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Sarajevo is a part of higher education in the common field of the health profession and science. What sets pharmacy studies apart from other medical faculties is the fact that pharmacy also educates professionals for the commercial sector in which the pharmaceutical industry holds an import position. Pharmacy studies are organized as an interdisciplinary program. Besides the main areas and vocational subjects, the curriculum also includes the main areas and subjects from other professions. Basic subjects from the Medical Faculty provide the necessary health education, while the basic fields of science (chemistry, biology, physics and mathematics) represent the core fields and subjects of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. All pharmacy studies are organized thus, which adds to their complexity and represents indicators in the regulation and establishment of their quality systems. The organization and implementation of the curriculum is based on a large number of practical classes in almost all fields and subjects. These practical classes are primarily laboratory based. This requires the laboratory environment to be defined, and, in particular, for laboratories to be equipped with modern instruments and staffed with personnel able to perform such a significant and vast program of exercises. All this combined requires significant investment to maintain the required level of studies. Higher education reform conditions a common higher education system for a common European labor market.
