Summary/Abstract: Polish food industry is growing fast, it shows high resistance to the phenomenon of the crisis, and its economic and financial situation is good. Such a situation can be explained by rising export and high demand on the internal market. International competitiveness of Polish food producers is high thanks to domestic and foreign funds. Polish producers are competing on the market with price and quality, more rarely with innovative products. Probably Polish food industry will be able to benefit from the EU aid funds for the last time in the period 2014-2020. The aim of this paper is a brief presentation of the most important processes and structural changes that have taken place in the Polish food industry in terms of production, investment and foreign trade as well as the analysis of the role played by public funds in these transformations and the presentation of the sector development directions.
