Summary/Abstract: The paper focuses on the analysis of the market of opinion polls carried out in Poland before the parliamentary, presidential and local elections (held in 2005 and 2006). The author provides an overview of selected methodological issues related to preparing and conducting pre-election polls: sampling methods, survey technologies (PAPI, CAPI & CATI) and modes (in-home & onstreet surveys). The author presents different standards of measuring voter turnout and political preferences applied by major Polish polling organisations.
