Summary/Abstract: The homogeneous model of space and time, which is a characteristic of education in Europe, is deprived of a real context. Intercultural education can solve this problem because it offers a possibility to understand the complexity of the modern world. Understanding others can bring a better understanding of oneself as well. Intercultural education implies diversity, pluralism, complexity, open questions and finally changes. At the same time, we point out the fact that acceptance and affirmation of an identity annuls the gap which can immerge from the complex phenomenon of globalization. Identity denotes affiliation.
