Summary/Abstract: Managers are people who influence organization future, their competences and decisions affect organization managing and related entities success. In order to achieve good results and efficient management of the organization, manager shall be able to analyze, evaluate situation, respond to changing tendencies in flexible manner, reveal and apply human potential. Manager’s personal characteristics, competence, ability to develop favorable interpersonal relations atmosphere in the organization become very important factors. Many scientists think that it is impossible to establish model of characteristics common to all managers as particular competences, which are required in one sphere, do not play big role in another sphere. Managers’ activity is miscellaneous, multifunctional and it becomes more and more complicated because of rapid changes in Lithuania and other countries of the world. It means that requirements for managers’ competences are also growing; this is problematic and constantly changing. It is very important for every manager to know what kind of competences are required and which of them shall be improved seeking to perform work in sufficient quality. After analysis of publications and opinions by scientists, specialists of this sphere, more questions than answers come out. It must be noted that not many systematic diagnostic researches of competences were found in Lithuanian scientific literature and researches on preschool education institutions managers’ competences were not found at all. Thus, the lack of such researches is important aspect of presented research problem. It is important that preschool education institution managers would constantly increase their competences in such way constantly developing and improving organization managing, keeping institution operation efficient and under competitive conditions. Moreover, it must be noted that analyzed preschool education institutions managers’ competences impact not only activity of organization but also indirectly influence preschoolers’ education process. This article is intended to comment the conduced research, designed to analyze respondents’ opinion on Šiauliai town preschool education institutions managers’ competences and competences which are limited as well as competences, which are the most important in manager’s work.
