Summary/Abstract: In Poland there is a growing number of social economy entities, social enterprises. In 2001, more than 200 new social co-operatives were established. They function as entities that clear the way for their employees and enable them to enter the open labour market. The main objectives of social economy include the integration of excluded groups, among other things through employment. Social economy entities functioning on the labour market perform the following functions: employer, institution supporting employment, provider of labour market services or spokesman – being an alternative to unemployment. Social economy entities may become a significant addition to currently dominant forms of management and contribute to the growing importance of recurring model of social market economy.
