Mass Media and the Public Sphere

Summary/Abstract: The main intention of this paper is to identify some pathologies of the Romanian public sphere, as they can be viewed in the mass media system. We use the Habermasian concept of the public sphere and we argue that the freedom of communicative action in the public sphere do not derive automatically from the existence of the free media market.
