Summary/Abstract: The term of „Europe” can have different meanings. If referred to the method of social life, Europe can be understood as a cultural application of the Latin civilization that has been forged by Greek philosophy, Roman law, and Christian religion for several ages. Its identity the Latin civilization owes to such constituents as: (1) the self-existent Absolute apprehended as the ultimate reason of the contingent reality, (2) the pluralism of beings, and (3) the understanding of man as personal being. The Absolute transcends the reality of the contingent world, while remaining immanent as its efficient, model, and final cause. The contingent world consists of various beings, including man as an significant one. The author claims that the Latin civilization exemplifies the best way of the symbiosis of philosophical realism and culture.
