Sources of economic development in the Republic of India in 1947–2008

Summary/Abstract: Since the Republic of India became an independent country in 1947, its economic development has been dominated by socialist-influenced policies, state-owned sectors and extensive regulations. After 1990 India began to open its market slowly through economic liberalization. It has had a huge impact on the economic development of India which nowadays makes this country a very important player on the international economic area. The author of this article tries to describe all the sources which have caused such dynamic economic development in the Republic of India.
