Summary/Abstract: Out of the numerous terms Latin used for designating the „blue” colour, Romanian inherited albastru, from lat. *ALBASTER, derived from ALBUS. The term is polysemantic, and the names of the hues of blue, derived from names of plants (vioriu, liliachiu, toporăsiu, havaiu), is well-represented in Romanian.
