POSTMODERNISM ŞI COMUNICARE

Summary/Abstract: This article deals with a major issue of nowadays society, namely the shift of communication from its direct, straightforward, face-to-face form to the technologically advanced online contacts. The aim of the article is to determine whether this relatively new type of human interrelation is an effective bridge-builder among cultures or, on the contrary, a major threat to the classical concept of ‘human touch’, risking to turn into an irreversible dehumanizing process. The article tackles the main ideas in a chronological manner, analysing the 20th to 21st century ideologies as expressed by a number of renowned and authoritative sociologists.
