Summary/Abstract: In the presented article I want to show the formation of knowledge-based society as the result of critical research on knowledge, the purpose of which is the investigation of the truth of a society as opposed to discovering the truth about a society. The truth about a society is described as the outcome of a synchronic approach to knowledge and a monologic approach to criticism. The truth of society can be described as the result of a diachronic approach to knowledge and a dialogic approach to criticism. The diachronic approach to knowledge concentrates on the possibility of formulating the knowledge of reality, however, such knowledge is perceived as fallible. The approach to knowledge is synchronic either because it focuses on determining the unchanging intellectual authorities in contrast to the changing sources of ignorance within the social realm, or because it concentrates on epistemic sources of various assertions about the world, from which further such claims stem. The criticism is dialogic because it focuses on developing new knowledge claims through the critical revision replacing the previous ones. The criticism is monologic either because the its task is to show how ignorance is a symptom of an individual’s failure to recognize the sources of knowledge or because its purpose is to disabuse us of an erroneous view that knowledge claims may inform us about an extra-discursive reality.
