Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the present article is to provide a critical analysis of two instantiations of the political discourse of the President of Romania Traian Băsescu during his first electoral mandate. Băsescu is a 'player president' who uses his public position as President to gain legitimation for his political party and more than that, for his own political agenda.
