Summary/Abstract: This study takes into consideration the marital relationship between a man and a woman as it is presented in the Holy Bible and it is divided into three parts. The first part presents God’s initial plan in regard to this relationship and the manner in which it was experimented throughout the history of the people of Israel in exact quotations from Chapter 2 of the Book of Genesis, the Song of Songs and Chapter 2 from Hosea. The second part presents Jesus’ attitude towards this reality and the manner in which it was lived and understood in the period of the early Christian community. The last part of the study is meant to discover some solutions that the biblical Revelation might uncover for the problems with which marriage and family are faced today. We will direct our attention towards marriage and the relationship between a man and a woman because we consider that upon this subject there is always something appropriate in the Scripture. In regard to family as a social reality and to the relationships that can be established within it, the Scripture tells the story of a very different culture in comparison to the contemporary one. We know that a healthy and fair relationship between the parents represents the fundamental condition required for the family to be able to play its part in the education of the upcoming generations. Many of today’s children and youth’s dramas are generated by broken or troubled marriages and sometimes the mistakes of our children are the result of our failure as parents.
