External forms of working-capital and capital-expenditure financing for small and medium-sized businesses in times of an economic crisis

Summary/Abstract: Small and medium-sized businesses, that are those that to a large extent determine the overall business activity of a given economy, still encounter numerous barriers to their normal operations. Some of the main obstacles are the problems with maintaining financial liquidity and obtaining external financing for their capital expenditures. This article aims to highlight the instruments that the small and medium-sized businesses use to finance their day-to-day operations and capital expenditures with special attention to external conditions of a limited access to capital that is in a situation of an economic crisis.
