Summary/Abstract: The author analyzes a number of ethnographonyms (names of some groups of Bulgarian population) that have appeared on the basis of some peculiarities in culture and manner of life of the Bulgarian population from different regions. These ethnographonyms reflect objective differences in the permanent antithesis "we" - "they". The revealed ethnographonyms are determined by: a) Differences in clothing-belodreshkovtsi, benevretchane, bidentcheta, buziyuvtsi, valiitsi, gargi, grebentsi, gugliovtsi, dvukaptsi, zabuni, kapantsi, katchulki, klashnitsi, konopadgiiki, koprinki, kratcholkovtsi, kultchishtari, kurkavtsi, kuslevtchene, metchkari, orliatsi, siniyavtsi, siniogashnitsi, torbeshi, tchernoshapkovtsi, tcheshirkovtsi, tcheshleta; b) Differences in occupation and characteristic activities - belgiitsi, bivolari, bizadgii, bulgurdgii, butchakchii, votchari, vurlinkovtsi, gargadgii, gudgutsi, gurtsi, davuldgii, drakadgii, drenkare, driyapi, jelvari, zavrukchie, zeliyare, kazalii, kalajie, katrandgii, klinkadgii, konsulikotchendgii, kukeri, kurbantsi, kuskundgii, leshtare, lukare, metchkare, moabetchii, mruvare, paspaldgii, partchovtsi, patsefkare, plotchare, puduliyatsi, purlitsi, redkashi, riyapari, rujuvtsi, turgovtsi, phasuldgii, tchokure, shermendgii, shilare, shindare, sluishulkare. It is considered that gaining knowledge of the names of groups of Bulgarian population as per different sign will allow a certain hierarchy of theirs to be outlined within the framework of macro- and microethnographonymics.
