Summary/Abstract: The inscription on a stole (epitrahil) kept at the Monastery of Ivir (Mount Athos) – published by Eleni Vlachopoulou-Karabina – shows that it is a donation by Irina (Ereni), the sister, otherwise unknown, of doamna Arghira, the spouse of Radu Mihnea, voivode of Wallachia (1601-1602, 1611, 1611-1616, 1620-1623) and of Moldavia (1616-1619, 1623-1626). Until recently, doamna Arghira was thought to have been a Greek of modest extraction from Pera (Istanbul), the sister of Bartolomeo Minetti, considered the “brother-in-law” of Radu Mihnea and the “uncle” of Radu Mihnea and Arghira’s son, Alexandru Coconul, ruling prince of Wallachia and of Moldavia after the death of his parents. In reality, the Venetian documents related to the action taken after 1626 to inherit the money deposited by Radu Mihnea at the (Zecca) bank of Venice, partially known and partially put into circulation recently by Cristian Luca, indicate that Bartolomeu Minetti, who died on 23 June 1634, was in fact the husband of Irina (Ereni). The stole kept at the aforementioned Athonite Monastery, formerly under the protection of the family of Radu Mihnea, is one in a long series of donations made by this princely family.
