Summary/Abstract: The article raises the problem of ontological complicity between the habitus of the sociologist as an objectivating subject and his object – the field (political, scientific etc.) observed by the sociologist as a field of observation, as well as of the functions of the reflexivity which Bourdieu calls ‘reflex reflexivity’ in that complicity. What I insist on is that in Bourdieu, ontological complicity is not pre-given (as many of both his critics and his pupils are apt to think) but is established (or fails to become established), re-establиshed, restored etc. as the result of the success of the effort of this reflex reflexivity and of the mimetic impulses of the agent which are awakened by it. I will also propose a generalization of this problem and its solution which will be valid not only for the sociological practice but also for any practice in general (be it theoretical or practical); in this, I will have in mind not only the practices in a ‘doxic modality’ but also the so-called heterodox and orthodox practices. I insist on declaring that it would not be an overstatement to say that the triad of doxic attitude to the native world, orthodoxy, heterodoxy (whether Bourdieu is aware of that or not) structurally reproduces the three types of legitimate domination in Weber – traditional, legal and charismatic, in bestowing a new density of meaning to them. Thus, without raising the problem of the assimilation of the heritage of Weber’s sociology of domination by Bourdieu in its general form, I will retain that heritage as a background.
