Summary/Abstract: The article presents an outline of a new theory of what Bourdieu calls the effect of biographical illusion — an effect which Bourdieu, paradoxically, does not relate to the problem, raised by himself, of the illusio as what a game is worth playing for. The context of meaning, which makes their relation possible within the problem of the biographical illusio, requires to rethink some concepts, emblematic for Bourdieu's reflexive sociology, such as habitus, habitat, doxic relation, allodoxy, double game etc. The delineation of a new problematics centered around the concept of normalization of the biographical iilusio and the concept of biographical machine requires a critique of Foucault's theory of normalization as well as a new understanding, inspired by Bourdieu, of the modern school as the central locus of normalizational effects. A consequence of that critique and of that understanding is the prob-lematization of the relation between the power of norm in Foucault and symbolic power in Bourdieu.
