The target: Iran

Summary/Abstract: This article is a very brief assessment of the US foreign policy choices in 2007, regarding the Middle East and particulary the Ahmedinejad regime. We intend to provide a snapshot on the core logic of US policies focused on two primary objectives: to contain Iran at the international level and also to amass a broader regional coalition to balance the Iranian threat. Was the containment strategy a successful one? Despite the NIE's diagnosis, the article concludes that Iran is still a major threat for the international peace and security.
