Summary/Abstract: Without going into the traumatic basements of the author’s biography, also avoiding an analysis covering the ethics and, in the background, the aesthetics, we intend, from the solid structure of “responsible chronic”, to track the two levels of space and time, starting from the mythology and following the positioning of the ego in relation to each separately, going through the magical space, by the habits almost archaic, however, also sliding on the fatal and bloody surface of history. What we can demonstrate is that, being the starting point, and at the same time, the end point, the Calidor is the center of Paul Goma’s imagination, announcing, at the end of the book, the fundamental problem of the writer’s life which finds its autobiographical explanation in the main theme of his epic: “the theme of refuge”.
