The Village Pub as a Center of Young People Communal Life and Family Rites

Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the place of the pub in village culture of Slovak society paying special attention to some of its typical characteristics – its institutional meaning, its perception as a center of the village communal life, etc. The author puts the stress on the functions of the pub in youth rituals and emphasizes on the family rites connected with it The events from communal life related to the pub as a typical ethnic-cultural space have been discussed.
