Summary/Abstract: This paper wants to analyse the mode of operation of so-called "Islamic bonds", known by its Arabic name "sukuk". Since interest is prohibited in Islam, other securities have been developed that want, on the one hand, to avoid interest, and on the other hand, to provide an income without excessive risk to investors. In practice, Islamic debt contracts are used for securitisation in most cases. The question here is to what extent these securities are of interest to investors and to what extent they really follow the rules of Islamic law, which we want to analyse by the theoretical presentation of these bonds and practical examples of the issuance of Islamic bonds.
