Current Perspectives on Tudor Vianu’s Stylistics

Summary/Abstract: A specialist in aesthetics, comparative literature as well as in other cultural areas, and therefore possesing multidisciplinary skills, Tudor Vianu is also still of great interest for the contemporary research in the field of stylistics. Vianu focused on stylistics from the very beginning of his research and his doctoral work, considering this approach as complementary to the literary analysis and study of aesthetics (the issue of artistic creation, as he considers that there is a causal, determinant relation between literary form and content). Therefore showed his concern for its development as a discipline. The current paper focuses on Vianu’s system of thought and the role of stylistics within this structure, as well as his foundational role in dividing Romanian stylistics from linguistics.
