Revisiting Tudor Vianu’s Aesthetics: Elements of Originality

Summary/Abstract: The paper revisits Tudor Vianu’s Aesthetics from a current perspective, discussing the Romanian’s scholar’s contribution to innovating the area through his interdisciplinary approach and German-modelled aesthetic system. The paper emphasises his specific systemic approach, organising the treaty around the concept of value and the axiological nature of art, as well as around the prevalence of the former over the other values and thus defining a aesthetical perspective over the world. The study discussed other characteristics and elements that mark Vianu’s originality, such as his analysis of art as work or techné.
