REVISITING TUDOR VIANU'S PERSPECTIVE ON THE WORK OF ART: CREATION, FORM AND CONTENT

Summary/Abstract: Departing from previous research about the aesthetic system created by Tudor Vianu and its originality in relation to European aesthetics, the current paper focuses on his concerns about the work of art. The concept of value, central in Vianu's aesthetics as well as in the philosophy of culture and art he writes about, is in relation to that of the work of art, to which he associated aesthetic and ethical value. The paplacing the work of art alongside the other values in the establishment of a moral order. The work of art thus acquires the mentioned ethical valences, "a moral or political, theoretical and religious meaning" as well as a spiritual depth, and an ordering, clarifying and idealizing vocation, the form of a work being determined by "the content their ideal of values".
