Summary/Abstract: The Holocaust forces us to speak about God and his relationship with evil. Theology after Auschwitz raised a question: Where was God during the Holocaust? The Italian Judaist Paolo De Benedetti (Asti, 1927) conceives evil as the sign of God’s laceration. After the creation of the world and the beginning of history, God would have lost his allmightness and even his unity, suffering with mankind and sharing the human condition. De Benedetti’s thought draws inspiration from authors like Bonhoeffer, Jonas and Ricoeur.
