Library-elucidative initiatives of wives of manufacturers of the Upper Volga region in the late XIX — the early XX с.

Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the history of origin of the factory libraries created by means of manufacturers of the Upper Volga region (on the example of Vladimir and Kostroma provinces). The author considers the main statistical indicators of the reading rooms work and analyzes their necessity and influence on a local urban and rural population. The role of wives of the manufacturers in education of workers is shown
