Discussions on academic responsibility of economists

Summary/Abstract: The article centres on the current economic crisis which is widely discussed by social researches, mostly by economists. Most of them admit that the crisis made clear a systemic failure of the economics profession. The main stream economics is said to be unable to forecast and explain economic events and processes. The models which were developed for over three decades fail to account for the actual evolution of the real-world economy. The present situation requires a fundamental amendment of economics. It also requires to rethink a problem of social responsibility of researchers who, according to social expectations, owing to conducted research have to contribute to better understanding of reality.
