Shifting employment patterns in the service sector of knowledge-based economy

Summary/Abstract: The article attempts to identify the changes taking place in the service sector in Poland and to assess them in the context of general shifts in the sectoral employment patterns. During the studied period, there was a significant decrease in employment in the knowledgeintensive market services and in the operational services for consumers. Conversely, employment figures went up for the knowledge-intensive business services. These changes seem to be an aftermath of the global crisis which slowed down the process of transforming Polish economy into a knowledge-based one.
