The future of the European Union. A Multi-variant analysis

Summary/Abstract: The global crisis in the financial and banking markets caused more than just financial and economic problems for the European Union. The Eurozone sovereign debt crisis also revealed the institutional weaknesses of the EU. The ineffectiveness of the proposed solutions intensified the political crisis of democratic legitimacy, as well as bringing about a serious social crisis. As a result the political and economic model of the European Union is being questioned. How it will end remains unknown. In examining the situation, we need to take into account both pessimistic as well as optimistic scenarios, thus four possible variants are analysed and presented below.
