Chosen aspects of designing and implementing the balanced scorecard in a hospital

Summary/Abstract: The article discusses issues related to the process of designing and implementing the balanced scorecard in a hospital. Special conditions, influencing the public sector (also the healthcare) need to be considered when designing the performance measurement system. Particular emphasis was placed on how the accreditation standards, implemented by the hospital, impact the shape of both the organization’s objectives, as well as metrics introduced to verify the level of their accomplishment. The article contains the proposal of the balanced scorecard perspectives set inspired by the accreditation standards.
