Summary/Abstract: The article follows the relations, the common moments and the differences between the Bulgarian folklore legends of the original sin and the Biblical text, using the latter as the basis of analysis. The accent is on the so-called vegetation codes - tree of life, tree of knowledge, paradise apple, fig and fig leaf. If we accept, that the code by itself is universal, it could be realized through different symbols. That is why the text pays attention to the symbolic meaning of stable markers and their place in folklore culture. This is an attempt to explain the folklore interpretation of the sacred legend of Adam and Eve, i.e. how the Christian legend of the original sin is transformed into a folklore text. The interest and attention are directed to the vegetation codes, rather than to the characters, because what is important, is the folklore "reading" of Biblical codes and their reflection in the folklore culture.
