THE PROTECTION OF SOCIETY FROM OFFENDERS CARRIED OUT BY THE PRISON SERVICE

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the study was to present attitudes characterising persons deprived of liberty and their attitude not only towards Prison Service officers but also towards penitentiary staff and the legal system. An attempt was also made to draw attention to the threats posed by offenders held in penitentiary units towards Prison Service officers, other inmates, and themselves, taking into account the legal possibilities for exerting a positive influence on these persons. Solutions adopted in the latest amendment to the Executive Penal Code, intended to eliminate the threats posed by inmates, are also presented.
