Summary/Abstract: The article presents how St Cyril of Alexandria defines in his writings the salvation of human nature in Christ. On the one hand, salvation constitutes a return to the man’s primordial state, but on the other hand, it also implies the aspect of perfection and possibility of reaching God’s likeness for the human nature. This presupposes faithful imitation of the life of Christ, the new Adam, who has ascended to perfect unity with God. Through Christ man is cleansed from sin and acquires faith and thus becomes „partaker of the divine nature”. The communion with God which we can attain in Christ through the hypostatic union of the two natures offers man the prospect of perfect union with God.
