Summary/Abstract: This study analyses the interpretation of Christ’s appearances after the Resurrection in St. Cyril of Alexandria’s Commentary on the Gospel of St. John, emphasizing the threefold dimension (pedagogical, apologetic, and typological-liturgical) attributed to these episodes. Saint Cyril sees in the preservation of the signs of suffering by the risen body a divine economy intended to strengthen the faith of the Apostles and angels in the reality of the Resurrection, as well as a reaffirmation of the hypostatic unity of Christ against Christological heresies such as Docetism and Nestorianism. At the same time, the typological interpretation of the Gospel moments – such as the prohibition addressed to Mary Magdalene or the invitation to touch the wounds made to Thomas – reveals a prefigurative structure of liturgical practice, especially of the Holy Eucharist. Thus, in the teaching of St. Cyril of Alexandria, the appearances of the Risen Christ are not only proofs of the Resurrection, but also the dogmatic and liturgical basis for the sacramental life of the Church.
