Waste recovery in the context of the circular economy

Summary/Abstract: This paper examines the role of waste valorization in the transition to a circular economy, highlighting the main concepts, principles, and strategies for sustainable waste management. It presents modern methods of reuse, recycling, and energy recovery, as well as the economic, social, and environmental benefits resulting from their implementation. Furthermore, the study analyzes the European and national policies and legislative framework that support the development of the circular economy, together with the challenges encountered during the implementation process. The research findings demonstrate that efficient waste valorization contributes to reducing the amount of waste disposed of in landfills, decreasing greenhouse gas emissions, improving resource-use efficiency, and fostering innovation and economic competitiveness. In addition, the study emphasizes the need to develop recycling infrastructure, promote innovative technologies, and strengthen environmental education and ecological responsibility in order to accelerate the transition toward a sustainable economic model.
