Summary/Abstract: The study examines the life path of Juló Vankóné Dudás, an outstanding individual from Galgamácsa—a village along the Galga River—and her relationship to the village's ethnography. It attempts to uncover the process through which she transformed from a bearer of community folk traditions, honoured with the title Master of Folk Art, into their active shaper. An important milestone in this career-spanning process was her discovery by prominent scholars—such as Sándor Gönyey, Zoltán Kodály, and Gyula Ortutay—during her girlhood. The launch of her career and the ongoing support that kept her on this path represent pivotal moments in this evolution. Finally, the study examines how the local community perceived and related to her extraordinary cultural role.
