Summary/Abstract: This paper is a cross-sectional analysis of the impact of the war in Ukraine on the security of Poland, taking into account selected military, social and political aspects. The fundamental issue is resolved in the paper on the basis of the results of opinion polls conducted by the Centrum Badania Opinii Społecznej – CBOS (Centre for Public Opinion Research) between 2022 and 2024. They reveal Poles’ perceptions of the threats posed by the ongoing conflict across the Polish eastern border. The data obtained in the course of the study indicate a high sense of uncertainty and an increase in public concerns about the geopolitical situation in Eastern Europe. The paper analyses also the dynamics of Polish society’s support for the reception of refugees from Ukraine. First studies conducted after Russia started a full-scale war showed very high support for receiving refugees. However, it has declined clearly and distinctly over time, which can be linked to the prolonged nature of the war, increasing burden on public systems and social assistance, and public fatigue.
