ANALYSIS OF THE RESISTANCE OF THE ICT SECTOR IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA TO THE INFLUENCE OF THE CRISIS

Summary/Abstract: The outbreak and rapid spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as the outbreak of war conflicts on the Europe soil, affected the operations of companies in many global markets. However, due to their nature of partiality and adequate reaction, certain sectors such as the financial sector, the alternative energy sector, as well as the IT sector remained more resistant to the effects of the aforementioned crisis. The aim of this research is to assess the resistance of the largest IT companies operating in the market of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the potential effects caused by the crisis. The business performance of the most successful IT companies from Bosnia and Herzegovina was selected for implementation. The analysis enables the assessment of the resilience of selected business performance of IT companies in the period 2019-2022. As criteria for the parametric assessment of the resilience of business performance, the following indicators were used: profitability, value creation, liquidity, financial strength and the BEX index. Determination of business performance was carried out by analyzing the recommended control values of selected indicators. For this purpose, adequate parametric and non-parametric statistical tests were used to test hypotheses about the assumed level of calculated measures of the mean value of selected indicators. The study makes it possible to conclude whether the largest IT companies operating in Bosnia and Herzegovina remained resistant to the impact of the crisis. The conclusions can be used, among other things, in the process of risk management of the stability of the IT sector in BiH and contribute to the discussion about the impact of the crisis on the state of IT companies in developing markets.
