Deliveries During Off-Peak Hours, Including Night Hours: Economic, Organisational and Implementation Analysis

Summary/Abstract: This article discusses the feasibility of implementing off-peak deliveries to stores and restaurants in cities. Its goal is to demonstrate the numerous benefits that can be achieved by implementing such deliveries in a controlled manner. The main research claim is that the proper implementation of evening or night-time deliveries of specific cargo to cities in the retail and restaurant sectors provides the opportunity to produce numerous benefits in various areas, including economic, environmental and organisational aspects. There is therefore a strong economic, social and environmental rationale for such deliveries. The data and information used come from secondary sources in the form of publications, including scientific ones, presented by Swedish and German research centres, as well as the companies themselves, including fleet providers and their customers in the retail and restaurant sectors involved in the implementation of off-peak deliveries.
