Summary/Abstract: A strategic choice in the current reality must be made before the problem of uncertainty is resolved. The situation of uncertainty and the necessity to make a choice give rise to a specific strategic paradox, since making a lasting decision may transform uncertainty into risk, which does not always lead to success. This paradox causes decision-makers to postpone their choices for as long as possible in the face of high uncertainty. A chosen strategy of action may not always prove helpful in this regard. The present article analyses the foresight procedure as a substitute for the strategy or its enhancement to serve as a method for assessing the direction of change in fundamental factors. The aim of the article is to examine the effectiveness of foresight as a continuous process. The applied method depends on the requirements of the adaptive efficiency of the institutional theory of the firm.
