Summary/Abstract: A review of Acropolis, directed by Łukasz Twarkowski at the Stary Theater in Krakow (premiere: 30.11.2013). Stanisław Wyspiański's Acropolis has been dramaturgically reworked by Anka Herbut, showing itself to be a fully autonomous piece, facilitating the creation of a virtual, highly abstract space on stage, and one governed by its own rules. Marta Bryś looks at the set design and the construction of the play, which allow the drama to lock horns with the competing stage reality. At the same time, she points out another possible way of interpreting the performance, as a dialogue with the drama Acropolis as a reservoir of cultural cliches and the collective imagination.
