Summary/Abstract: The primary aim of this research was to determine positional differences in the motor abilities of cadet basketball players while also taking into account their level of success in the game. The set of variables in this research consisted of 12 motor tests. To evaluate locomotor speed, agility, and explosive power, the following tests were applied: running times for distances of 5, 10, 15, and 20 m, T-agility test, Linear agility test, Zig-zag agility test, vertical jump with feet together—hands on hips (squat jump), vertical jump with feet together and arm swing (squat hand free jump), vertical rebound after a 40cm height drop jump, 10 consecutive vertical jumps with both feet, standing long jump. All multivariate tests confirm that groups of guards with different levels of performance do not show statistical significance in differentiating based on a linear combination of dependent variables of motor abilities. More successful guards are dominant in the CMJ Stiffness 10 test while the values of other tests are very similar. Less successful guards show greater rebound power in the standing long jump test. Only two motor ability variables have unique statistical significance in distinguishing groups of guards formed according to their level of performance (Sig< .05). These are the 15m run (Sig=.034) and the 20m run (Sig=.015). The selection of measures, tests for analysis in this paper, and the obtained results are of great importance for understanding and improving the process of detection, identification, and development of young basketball players.
