Summary/Abstract: The study analyses changes in the number of secondary school graduates and its correlations with the number of applicants to the Academy of Physical Education in Katowice from 2007 to 2019 in such fields as: physiotherapy, physical education, tourism and recreation, or sport and tourism management. The number of secondary school graduates in this period fell on average by 5.2%. From 2014 to 2019, this trend stabilised at an average decrease of 0.9%. The number of candidates applying for physiotherapy studies is stable and independent of the number of high school graduates. The average decrease in the number of candidates applying to physical education studies is lower than the same index of high school graduates. The average decrease in the numbers of candidates for tourism and management is almost twice as high as the decrease in the number of high school graduates; these numbers are positively correlated.
