Summary/Abstract: Through this article, we aim to highlight the influence of non-Romance languages on the development of the Romanian language vocabulary, by means of borrowed augmentatives. The study analyzes Romanian words borrowed from non-Romance languages, through which speakers express the idea of increased size or heightened intensity. The analysis is based on the definitions and etymological explanations provided by the Small Academic Dictionary – 2010, the Dictionary of the Romanian Language (Romanian Academy), and other dictionaries published by the Romanian Academy (in which the analyzed words were encountered).
