Summary/Abstract: In this article, we aim to investigate the process of formation of augmentatives through derivation with the suffixes -oi, -oaie, while highlighting the semantic and stylistic functions that the newly formed words fulfill. The analysis is based on examples extracted from Romanian literary works, in order to understand the contribution of these forms to the expressivity and dynamism of the language. The examples also reflect the confusions that can be made with motional suffixes. Therefore, we explained the correlation of suffixal derivatives with morphological aspects, namely the marking of the gender of nouns. We also took into account the distinction at the stylistic level, through popular, regional forms, etc.
