Summary/Abstract: This article presents a condensed account of a central component of a Phd.research elaborated project devoted to French–Spanish–Romanian meteorological phraseology. It proposes a specific typological model for classifying the degrees of translation equivalence to apply to meteorological phraseological units (MPUs). The model is structured around five categories: Total Equivalence (TE), Semantic Equivalence with Stylistic Divergence (SESD), Partial Equivalence through Modulation (PEM), Equivalence through Cultural Adaptation (ECA), and Zero Equivalence (ZE).Empirically validated on a corpus of 150 documented meteorological phraseological units, the proposed framework provides a systematic approach to identifying, describing, and ranking the translation challenges inherent in this highly specific phraseological subsystem, which remains comparatively underexplored in Romance contrastive phraseology and translation studies. The article discusses the theoretical underpinnings of the model, outlines the methodology adopted for corpus compilation and analysis, and illustrates each category through representative examples drawn from the three languages under investigation.
