Summary/Abstract: In 2025, the book “Lithuanian Lawyer Mykolas Römeris” was published. The author is often asked why she chose to write about this personality and devoted a considerable study to analyzing his career. The answer is very simple. The author works at the university named after M. Römeris. It is logical that this alone was a reason to write about this personality. However, interest in the personality of the Lithuanian historian, journalist, publicist, lawyer, scientist, rector, and public figure goes far beyond the university. Not only lawyers, but also people from various fields and even representatives of science from foreign countries are interested in him. This was the main motive for writing the book, especially the desire to better familiarize oneself with the path taken by M. Römeris and to present his professional biography in detail. However, after writing the book, several more reasons and aspects emerged that make it worth knowing about M. Römeris personality and professional path. First, when analyzing the life and activities of this personality, one inevitably has to touch on the development of Lithuanian statehood. Secondly, he was a unique Lithuanian lawyer. These two reasons embody M. Römeris as a universal personality, whose interest also means interest in Lithuania, its history, and the development of the restoration of the state. This article will focus on the first aspect. The second aspect, in order to reveal what distinguishes the lawyer from all other Lithuanian, and perhaps not only Lithuanian, lawyers, will require a separate study.
